Where is your happy place?

Mine has always been Pearl Beach - a beautiful sleepy suburb of stunning natural beauty, hidden up on the Central Coast.

Both David Morgan and I discovered it by accident over 25 years ago. It has a serene beach, beautiful cliffs and bush walks, and the most incredible wildlife. Whenever we visited - I felt deeply inspired and recharged. Back in our early days of dating, we would take our books, a picnic lunch, and just "lose hours" while immersing ourselves in the natural, regenerative beauty of the place.

Fast forward to 2009, when Charley was 3, and I was heavily pregnant with Roxy. The Global Financial Crisis meant that property prices were well down, and I was nesting (so how could David say no?). We decided to take the plunge and buy an old 1950's shack as our "getaway escape". As David Morgan tells the story, he didn't have a choice (he was working at Bankwest at the time, and I may have talked directly to his team to get the paperwork all lined up!) We bought the house, and it became ours, just as our beautiful second daughter Roxy was born.

Needless to say, it has been our "special place" as a family for years. We have so many beautiful memories of the girls growing up there, and every time we drive up I feel instantly relaxed and at peace. At some point in the future when the girls have finished school, David Morgan and I will probably "retire" up there. That's how much we love it.

So I've been fascinated by how I've discovered that same sense of peace through meditation. Rather than that feeling of peace coming from an external location, it's also there inside me. On-demand - for whenever I choose to tap into it.

When I close my eyes and breathe deeply, my mind and body start to slow, and gently relaxes into a peaceful state. Some days are easier than others, but with discipline and practice, this is now also my "happy place". I look forward to my meditation time every day - where I can enjoy "just being", and feeling that connection with myself.

Experiencing the joy of not doing. Not planning. Not problem-solving. Not rushing. Just being.

The bonus is that afterward, I feel amazing. My mind is clearer, my intuition is much stronger, and I am so much more productive. For my rationale mind, there is a really high ROI! And it's so enjoyable.

I'm sharing this because in today's world, we all need to do what we can to find that "place of peace". We are not robots, and we are not designed for 24/7 freneticism. It is so important to find your way of relaxing, recharging and just being. Every day - not just on holidays. The world won't offer it up. We each need to fight for it (and prioritise it).

Below is a picture of me combining my 2 happy places: meditation at Pearl Beach. So much beauty and joy!

Have you found your happy place? Is there a place where you can find peace every day?
