I love you forever

How do you tell your child how much you love them?

I remember when I was 17 and just driving that my mum was scared of my two sisters and I being in the same car. Not because she thought we were terrible drivers, but her greatest fear was losing all 3 of us at once. “I couldn’t go on living” she said.

Of course at the time we thought it was morbid and weird - but now I’m a mother I understand.

Your child is such a wondrous gift - and the love you have is boundless. Infinite. There is nothing they could do that would make you love them less (although there are times when they like to test this!)

Our eldest child Charley is turning 18 this Sunday. A huge milestone.

David Morgan for years has created the most beautiful photo books for our family. From always having his camera in hand, to editing, to creating the story around which the photos are printed. It is his love language.

I haven’t really had “a thing” - beyond normal gift giving. And this is a milestone birthday. So I had to think hard. What gift would say “I love you forever?”

So I wrote a poem. About us. About our love. Which is infinite. From the moment I held her - I knew this.

My good friend  Alex Fisher is an artist / graphic designer - and she kindly helped me to put it together.

I discovered a place which prints on glass to create picture art. I wanted this to be something she can take with her. Anywhere. Through her life (if she wants).

So here it is. My special gift for her. To celebrate turning 18. I can’t wait to give it to her on Sunday. It has my heart in it - so she will always know I’m there in spirit.

Forever
